Venus Exalted 27 : On High Her Watery Throne
The Venus Exalted 27 Talismans are all about Venus’ being EXALTED. The election chosen for this talisman features Venus exalted in her own watery triplicity of Pisces and at her exaltation degree of 27 degrees.
As I have centred exaltation as a core focus in this talismanic working it is important that we first understand it's meaning. Exalted refers to being RAISED UP and according to the Mariam Webster dictionary it means: elevated in rank, power, or character. Firmicus says that exalted planets are elevated by a certain natural sublimity of magnitude. While Dorotheas says that planets in their exaltations make them very illustrious and remarkable, becoming an authoritative figure who can be entrusted with noble works as well as dwell with and enjoy the profits of regal endeavours.
As Venus is both exalted by sign and degree, we can consider her to be raised up to her utmost height, power and authority. ON HIGH HER WATERY THRONE. Not unlike the Venus we see depicted in the title image; The Triumph of the Marine Venus by Sebastiano Ricci.
In her triplicity of water Venus is at her dreamiest - most poetic, the perfect expression for artists, writers and performers. This is where she inspires by opening us up to the beauty within the mundane, delighting us with simple pleasures so easily overlooked when wrapped up in the anxieties of daily life. Venus of the waters wants to re-enchant our lives by encouraging us to slow down and let go. Basically this is Venus reminding us, that to stop and smell the flowers is to let the creativity flow.
This election took place during Venus' day and hour on the 17/2/23 at 2pm PT. Venus was applying to the midheaven, the Moon was angular in the 7th house and applying to a sextile with Venus - her next aspect. Both the Moon and Venus were free from hard aspects to the malefics. Venus having completed her superior square to Mars was sufficiently separated and out of orb, thus tucking Mars safely away from influence in the 12H.
While the Moon was both in her last quarter and in Capricorn, according to both the Picatrix and Ficino Venus being on the Midheaven and Jupiter being in the 10H mitigates any debilities of the moon. That said, I consider the psychopomp last quarter Moon to be beneficial in a Venus talismanic election as she is being guided into the sublunar realm by the wise and dry Moon, and according to Firmicus, Venus being aspected by a waning Moon somewhat subdues Venus’ lusty nature.
Freeing Venus from the distraction of -pleasure seeking for pleasures sake- creates more space to explore the immaterial mysteries of the mystical Piscean waters. Venus separating from her conjunction with Neptune flavours with the Neptunian; think - ecstatic states of interconnectedness, and Venus being in the 3rd face of Pisces further exemplifies this.
The 3rd face of Pisces is the end of the line, the final face in the wheel of incarnation. Coppock in 36 Faces says that while this face inspires lust for the hearts desire of perfect union and happy endings, that the true desire is in-fact, a merger with the universe itself.
All that said, it is important to remember this isn't a wishy-washy Venus, this is Venus EXALTED in her power and authority. While she may take you into her dreams, be it the hidden kingdoms in the deepest depths of the ocean, or the oceanic expanse of the cosmos, she also wants you to direct her creative gifts into authorship. As Dorotheas says, Venus here is about the noble work. But this is Venus (not Saturn) and she also wants to luxuriate in the fruits of the labour.
A word of warning: The first time I left the house wearing this talisman I went to the post office to send off some parcels. I was chatting with the postal service worker and then - completely out of the blue - he hit on me. It was a jokey/flirty and non threatening experience, but still it is important to note that this talisman may bring attention, wanted or not. It is stressed in 36 Faces that [Venus] charms for love or lust made in this phase are very powerful, but offer no protection from getting what one wants. While I did try to mitigate potential for excessive lust, I think this is an important consideration to be mindful of with most talismans in relation to all things desired - and not just matters of love.
Side Note- This was the last opportunity for a Venus in Pisces talisman for many years due to Saturn roadblocking any Pisces opportunities until early 2026 and because Neptune will leave Pisces before Saturn, it was the last time Venus will be co-present with Neptune in Pisces in our lifetime.
